About The Founder
My name is Jennifer Kavanagh
I have never fit into a neat little box — and I no longer try to.
I am a Master Herbalist and Clinical Herbalist rooted in both formal training and lived experience. My work bridges clinical herbal medicine, nervous system regulation, metabolic stability, and deep respect for the intelligence of the natural world.
I grow many of the herbs I work with in Muskoka, cultivated without harmful chemicals and in alignment with the rhythms of the land. I believe the way plants are grown matters. The integrity of medicine matters. And the sovereignty of your health matters.
Yes — I talk to plants. I observe animals. I pay attention to the subtle shifts in energy and season. But my work is not whimsical. It is grounded, physiological, and practical. I support women and families in restoring metabolic stability, stabilizing blood sugar, regulating the nervous system, and rebuilding resilience through herbal protocols, nutrition, and strategic lifestyle shifts.
My professional training includes herbal medicine, psychology, mindfulness, yoga, meditation, and art therapy. My real-world training includes motherhood, entrepreneurship, marriage, loss, rebuilding, and choosing to think independently in a world that prefers conformity.
I work especially well with women who feel something is “off” — who are tired of being dismissed, tired of burnout, tired of outsourcing their health, and ready to reclaim personal responsibility and informed choice.
That Lady in the Woods is more than a brand. It is a space for sovereign health. A place where natural medicine, critical thinking, and grounded clinical care meet.
You don’t need to fit into a box to be well.
You need knowledge, support, and the right tools.
And I’m here to help you build that foundation.
